NAIROBI, Kenya – March 16, 2026. In perfect alignment with its new 2026-2030 Corporate Brand purpose, Banking on Belief: Empowering Ambitions, NCBA has reaffirmed its commitment to Kenyan sports by celebrating the remarkable trajectory of professional Kenyan golfer Njoroge Kibugu.
NCBA’s partnership with Njoroge is in line with the organization’s new strategy of being a belief-driven financial services provider that trusts in the dreams of visionaries before the world does.
Currently ranked 96th in Africa and standing as the highest-ranked East African golfer after securing the Sunshine Development Tour East Africa Swing Order of Merit title, Njoroge is undisputedly Kenya’s most promising professional player. To propel his journey toward the global stage, including the DP World Tour and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, NCBA in January 2026 signed up Njoroge Kibugu as their Brand Ambassador.
While the sponsorship is expected to drive strong visibility for the NCBA Corporate brand and products marketing, the opportunity provides a stable source of income needed to pursue excellence without distraction on his global journey. The essential financial resources help him cover travel costs and subscribe to comprehensive mental, physical training and world-class coaching both at home and in South Africa.
As part of NCBA’s professional golf team of four that includes Edwin Mudanyi, Eric Ooko and Abraham Galgalo, Njoroge Kibugu was among the elite group of 15 Kenyans who qualified for the recent Magical Kenya Open (MKO).
The 22-year-old golf sensation emerged as the sole Kenyan to make the cut going into day 3 and 4, among the 18 local professionals and amateurs who entered the prestigious DP World Tour event at Karen Country Club. Under immense pressure, Kibugu secured his weekend spot with a dramatic eagle on the par-5 18th hole, finishing with a 5-under-par total of 135 and breaking a two-year block for Kenyan professionals.
To celebrate this milestone, NCBA provided substantial financial backing. Njoroge and fellow NCBA-backed-pro Edwin Mudanyi were each awarded KES 500,000 for qualifying for the MKO. Upon making the cut at the tournament, NCBA awarded Njoroge an additional KES 1 million. Kibugu’s remarkable achievement at the 2026 MKO was further bolstered by the Government of Kenya, which proudly stepped up with a KES 5 million kitty, a true testament of his role in making Kenya proud.
By investing in tomorrow’s champions, NCBA is scaling belief. Its new corporate mindset – Ubuntu (transforming shared belief into shared value)- recognizes that growth is never purely personal; it is a movement involving the entire community. A key example of this shared journey was the role of Bo Ciera, a former Muthaiga Golf Club Captain, who served as Njoroge’s caddie during his winning performance.
NCBA continues to bank on its stakeholders’ beliefs – one trusted roof for universal products ranging from asset finance, corporate banking, property financing, investment expertise, digital banking and insurance. Its unwavering commitment is promised to those bold enough to chase their global ambitions.
Njoroge Kibugu is a national icon and hero, making Kenya exceptionally proud. “By investing and nurturing tomorrow’s champions today, we continue to empower dreams and inspire the next generation of sporting icons,” stated the NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora. “We wish Njoroge the absolute best as he continues to conquer global sports and shape the future of the golf profession.”
